The 2013 World Economic Forum on Africa will take place in Cape Town, South Africa from the 8 to the 10 May. Under the theme “Delivering on Africa’s Promise”, this 23rd WEF on Africa will provide an important platform for regional and global leaders from business, government and civil society to deepen the continent’s integration agenda and renew commitment to a sustainable path of growth and development by addressing the following sub-themes:
a) Accelerating Economic Diversification
b) Boosting Strategic Infrastructure
c) Unlocking Africa’s Talent

Last year the 22nd World Economic Forum on Africa was held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. It brought together over 700 leaders from business, government, civil society and academia from more than 70 countries worldwide. The overarching theme of the 2012 meeting was “Shaping Africa’s Transformation” and the sub-themes were:
a) Strengthening Africa's Leadership
b) Accelerating Investment in Frontier Markets
c) Scaling Innovation for Shared opportunities.

With an expected annual growth of 5% in 2012-2013, sub-Saharan Africa continues its transformative journey from a developing continent to a hub of global growth. According to the World Bank, almost half of Africa’s countries have attained middle-income status. At the same time, the continent’s positive outlook is threatened by fluctuating commodity prices, rising inequality and youth unemployment. (READ MORE)
