Now That's How To Get Things Done!

Victory #1 - Stopping land grabs

When we told you that big land deals in poor countries are leaving people homeless and hungry, you said it was an injustice. And then you told the World Bank to help solve the problem. They listened.
You put land grabs high on the World Bank’s agenda. Thank you.

We presented your petition for action to the World Bank just before its Spring Meetings last week. Combined with strong private lobbying, sustained public campaigning in the months before, and a video petition from Coldplay fans, our message was incredibly loud.
As a result, the World Bank did the right thing: find out more about your amazing achievements on land grabs.
You have started a serious debate inside the World Bank. We’ll continue to keep the pressure up to make sure it keeps its promises.

Victory #2 - Sweet success with Mars, Mondelez and Nestle

Mondelez has agreed to join Mars and Nestle and to “look, listen and act” to improve how women cocoa farmers and their families are being treated in their cocoa supply chain. That’s a hat-trick!
The steps taken by Mars, Mondelez and Nestle are an example to the rest of the food and beverage industry that consumers are paying attention to how companies impact the communities they work in.
Two months ago Oxfam launched Behind the Brands with a call to “change the way the food companies that make your favorite brands do business” and already more than 100,000 of you have signed the petition to put pressure on these giant companies, and thousands more have posted tweets, videos and Facebook comments.
It all goes to show that no brand is too big to listen to its customers.
