ACCESS TO WATER IN SUB-SAHARAN COUNTRIES
In the last 2 decades there has been an increase in access to an improved water source. Although the graphic is not updated up to the current year, it is useful to see the trend which shows an overall improvement from 49% to 60%. It is also useful to see the trends by country measured at 3 specific years. There is still a long way to go.
Various global issues are affecting water availability, climate change is a factor, so too is the increase in population as well as the growth of water-hungry economic activities. Physical water scarcity will present large challenges for African countries located in semi-arid regions such as in Eastern Africa
